Earth's Rotation and Terrestrial Reference Frames
Staff: A. Poma, S. Uras
This research concerns the study of the variations on the Earth's rotation, namely the change in the length of day, polar motion, precession and nutation, with the main goal of investigating those possible causes connected with geophysical and geodynamical phenomena (Earth tides, free oscillation of the Earth, seismic activity, plate tectonics and crustal deformations). This research field also covers the theoretical studies of planetary dynamics of the Earth, improving of star catalogues and the problems which are connected to the definition and establishment of the conventional Terrestrial System of Reference.
