2.2 Azimuth Wheel

The azimuth rail allows the rotation of the whole structure (supporting nearly 3000 ton). It has a 40 m diameter and it lays on the foundation through a grout interface.

The rotation system is constituted of 16 wheels (4 of which are driving wheels).

Tha antenna rotation range is of ±270° at a maximum speed of 0.85÷0.425 °/sec , depending on the wind speed (see tab. 3.1)
